Is everyone's bizarre commentary, gaslighting, controlling behavior, etc. Already have to field so many nonsense comments about living in Dubai in the first place, and since the war-storm combo of March, these comments have only gotten crazier and more aggressive.
People within Dubai and UAE are gaslighting and sometimes attacking and scolding each other. People on the outside are gaslighting those of us inside. Or trying to give extreme, controlling advice totally unwarranted. Or entering into non-consensual political debates, which include very strong opinions and rage which we never signed up for. Or just genuinely being cruel and negative.
All you need to message someone in the UAE in the past few months is "Are you ok? How are you feeling? Thinking of you, I'm here for you, here's some help I can offer if you need it, what else do you need?" That's it. Not mention how much worse it is in other emirates like Abu Dhabi or other countries (we bloody know!), not scold us for living in Dubai in the first place just because you don't like it, not suggest that it's time to leave our home or force us to stay, not start interrogating us about our lives, work, money, relationships, ethics, religion, political beliefs. And don't ask us to go over the situation in numerical detail and repeatedly question if we really heard and saw things as if we have to prove it.
Of course a lot of this happens over text since we're living across time zones, which is a big part of the problem.
