This might be a hot take, but the entire vibe of 2.5 is exactly what I wanted the whole Itzaland arc to feel like. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the Wishfield arc and was excited for 2.0 to lean more into an ancient civilization with a serious tone and stronger RPG elements.

Instead, we got… shroomlings. It completely pulled me out of the immersion, and I couldn’t, for the life of me, get into the story at all. It felt way too cutesy and lighthearted, and I ended up just coasting through it until the 2.4 event was locked behind finishing Chapter 5. I was still enjoying the game, but I had zero interest in the main story. It honestly felt like a lot of 2.0’s potential was wasted.

2.5 has reignited my interest in Itzaland. The more serious tone, the immaculate and detailed design of the Boneyard, the strong fantasy RPG vibe with dragons and magic, and the Parksolian NPCs that aren’t just cartoonish talking mushrooms it all feels like a step in the right direction and I hope Infold continues to give us more of this style for the rest of 2.0.
