Regarding phishing and other scams
I'm sure Ashley and Burnie already know this, but for those who don't, one of the reasons those phishing emails often include poor grammar and spelling mistakes is because the scammers aren't looking for the people smart enough to notice them. As harsh as it sounds, they're looking for the people "too dumb" to spot such obvious warning signs.
Also, while this isn't such an issue these days with more and more people choosing to only have a mobile, not a landline, one of the classic tricks scammers would do is call your landline, claim to be your bank, then when you do as Burnie did and say you'll call them back on a number you find, you'll "hang up" the phone, but the scammer won't, so when you pick up the handset and dial your bank, you'll still be on the call with the scammer, but you'll think you've called the real bank. They've even been known to play a fake dial tone! So to avoid that, if possible use a different phone, wait at least 15 mins before calling your bank if you have no other phone, or call a trusted friend first.
