Advice on premature termination of contract

Hey guys. Currently waiting for school that’s 2 months away.

Started working at this place which I got through a recruitment agency. I’m a few days in and I realised I don’t really want to work here, partly because of the mundane work.

I informed my agent of this and he said that I’d have to pay a penalty fees (a few hundred dollars) which I’m sort of okay with paying.

He also mentioned something about me getting flagged on their system, and that it’ll be harder for me to get a job with them.

Is this only the case for temporary part time roles under him or is it the case for all jobs in the country?

I don’t really see myself working with these agencies that don’t describe the job roles and lock you into the employment.

Advice is much appreciated, thanks!

Why does the epsilon-delta definition of limits hinge on the tolerance on the y-axis?

I’ve tried looking this up however the explanations don’t really sit well with me.

My primary question is, why won’t the definition rely on the tolerance on the x-axis, since x is the independent variable in f(x) or y.

Is x not chosen because some values of x might not necessarily give a corresponding output y?

Thanks!

Hey guys.

I want to work in a career that involves mathematics, computer science, finance and machine learning, and quant finance is one such field.

I understand that it’s insanely challenging to enter this field, and would like to know adjacent pathways that exist - as a backup.

While I enjoy learning about these domains, finding a good job and earning money is equally as important, even more so with the poor state of the CS job market today.

That being said, I’d like to know about possible career opportunities that exist alongside quant finance.

Thanks!
