My wife bought two bonsai two years ago. The juniper died in the ground pretty early, but this Chinese Elm I dug up this spring and repotted into an old tomato pot I had. I also chopped it off pretty severely. At the incorrect time.

About a week later the bonsai bug truly bit me and now I’ve learned so much in so little time! I’m also noticing saplings on my dog walks around the neighborhood. It’s wild.

Anyway, two serious things a season seems like a general rule of thumb per tree for survival and health. The last picture looks to have some buds, so perhaps it’ll live to push more next spring.

What do you think?
