Went out, killed a few beasts…

Just got done fully finishing the game today and I have to say it’s been an experience.

Been posting here recently about my journey through my first ever blind playthrough, my woes and my highs and it’s been phenomenal undertaking.

Coming of the heels of 100% ER, DS1 & DS2 I was wary coming to BB and didn’t really know what to expect, but I’ve gotta say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by(almost) all of it.

Atmosphere, Lore, Combat, Weapons, Designs, they’re all incredible and certain parts are arguably the best in the whole soulsborne series. Playing has really given me a new perspective of the genre and what it can be.

The DLC is top tier and Lady Maria is in my top 5 bosses OAT easily. Ludwig has one of the coolest cutscene I’ve ever scene and Orphan of Kos is such a frantic fight I love it.

Although certain things could be better such as the base game boss roster, ncp quests being quite short and dull, and just chalice dungeons as a whole. The game at large is such a good experience and I wish I could play it again for the first time.

My hunt is over for now, and I must try to find my worth in the waking world. But hats off to you good hunters! Wanna thank the sub for being a good place to go, chat, and post these last few days.

Chalice Amygdala is genuinely miserable

Tbh everyone in chalice dungeons is miserable but the defiled dungeon is especially miserable.

Just about managed to kill the watchdog after a couple dozen tries and thought nothing could be worse than that but the dungeons continue to disappoint me.

Cause you’re half health nearly all boss attacks have 1 shot potential which is such a miserable way to play. Only doing this for the Pthumean Queen trophy and it such a drag.

For an otherwise Amazing game this is such a horrendous spot.

Update: Killed him like 10 tries after posting xD. Thanks to people who made suggestions, in the end I just brute forced my way through and I’m glad I never have to look back

For reference I’ve beat all DLC Bosses bar him and every base game boss up to Micolash.

I’ve had a mostly pleasant experience so far and have been loving the game. But Laurence is ruining it for me.

I’m no stranger to hard bosses and don’t have a problem with losing a lot to bosses I struggle with, both only when it’s fair. Laurence is not fair.

Against Ludwig I struggled a lot with his first phase and against OoK I was always on the back foot, but with Laurence ever death feels like bullshit. Every hit does like 60% of my health and his lingering fire damage is awful. Feels like every time you try to get close enough to you know, actually fight him, he just does a 270° swing that sprawls the whole area in flames. And you can’t even back up because his arms are so long that you’ll get hit either way.

The only way I’ve managed to get any damage on him so far is to literally just hit his legs a few times, back up, wait 5 minutes for an opening, and chance another few.

For a game that drills aggression into your head this is the most passive fight possible. And that may be design but it’s a terrible fit for the game. He just feels like a bullshit artificial difficulty boss that doesn’t exist to be engaging but instead to just be shown off as a “hard fight”

Update: I beat him like 12-15th try, thank you to every who either offered advice or gave support. And get fucked to anyone who said it was easy/optional/skill issue. Shits ass and a terrible addition

Recently got to the end of Old Hunters DLC and haven’t struggled to heavy so far. Just encountered orphan of Kos and I’ve a few questions in regard to parrying him. I’ve only fought him twice thus far, once at 75% and once to 25%. I found great inconsistency in what I could and couldn’t parry. I couldn’t seem to parry his jumps or whip attacks though that could be just timing. I parried him once while in his second phase when he tried to do a jump attack but couldn’t another time when he tried to do the same. Just wondering if there’s a general rule of thumb for which of his attacks can be parried and which can’t. Or if I just need to learn them all by heart

Update: beat him on my 6th attempt, all the advice was very useful and I used a mix of aggression, parry’s, distance and patience. Wanna say thanks to everyone that chimed in

I’m new to BB so I don’t know if this is a popular opinion or even a common one but for some reason I find he’s second phase 10x simpler to manage than he’s first.

For background, I’m no stranger to souls games, platinumed ER, DS1 & DS2 but this is my first time playing BB. Overall I’ve not really struggled much, beat every boss in base game up until Micolash in 1-3 tries consistently. I was feeling confident going into dlc(big mistake) and promptly got abused by fodder enemies.

I was on my toes at this point not really knowing what to expect bosswise as I’d only heard certain names here and there and had never actually seen any gameplay of their fights.

Eventually I stumble into Ludwigs arena and in typical souls fashion I did really well on my first attempt, got cocky, and proceeded to get pummelled every attempt following.

Phase 1 he’s a complete monster(duh), supper unpredictable and aggressive. Because of all his limbs I could it really hard to know where an attack was coming from before it was already ontop of me. Was seriously struggling at this point and was terrified for the future as I knew he had a second phase and I believed it was going too be so much worse as he was really hyped as a punishing boss.

On about my 10th-12th attempt I finally managed to get him to half health, watched cutscene, shit my pants, and then… beat him. Really easily.

Something about his 2nd phase just felt stupidly simple to me. Dodge towards sword, attack, avoid AOE, strafe moonlight slash, repeat. Might just be I got really used to fighting big enemies with swords off DS2 recently but compared to his 1st phase Ludwigs second phase is laughable.
