Is planting fake plants outdoors a common practice?

Is planting fake plants outdoors a common practice?

Typically, fake plants serve as decorative accessories inside houses. A different usage has emerged, some people choose to arrange them outdoors and bury the base into mulch soil.

The main advantage is maintenance-free evergreen scenery all year long. Gardeners save efforts on regular watering, pruning and seasonal upkeep work. Professionally made outdoor fake plants features UV resistance and waterproof capability, and can withstand sun exposure and rain. Leaves can retain their original shape and color without wilting under intense sunlight or rainfall.

Honestly, does this look cheap and tacky? Your thoughts?

Spent months slowly styling this little nook, and this is the current result. It looks pretty comfy overall, but I’m low-key scared it’s way too try-hard.

Huge win for me pairing the wall art with a black wall sconce, the warm lighting hitting the artwork creates such a nice soft mood. That said, I’m on the fence about this faux olive tree. It’s easy to tell it’s not real when you get close, but it fills the space perfectly anyway.

Does this little nook come off as too overdone or tacky to anyone? Has anyone else had this same dilemma after buying faux plants? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts!

Low-maintenance ways to decorate a space?

Does anyone else struggle with keeping their space tidy? I’ve been wanting to make my home feel cleaner and more put together lately. But honestly, I never know where to start with all the clutter. I’m considering donating or tossing items I never use anymore.

I love adding personality and warmth to my room, but I don’t want tons of decor that requires constant cleaning, upkeep or replacing.

Here’s what I’m planning so far:

  • Simple ambient lighting with a warm floor lamp
  • Textured decor like throw blankets, cushions and a rug
  • Some greenery in my space, but definitely no real plants — I’ve killed too many real plants to try again

Would love to hear your favorite low-maintenance decor hacks. What small, easy changes make a room feel less boring and more alive with barely any work?

Can you mix real and fake plants without it looking weird?

I’ve been adding more plants lately, but not all of them survive.

So I started mixing in a few fake ones, especially in low-light corners.

Now my space is kind of half real, half fake… and I can’t tell if it looks good or slightly off.

I try to keep real ones near windows and fake ones farther away, but I might be overthinking it.

Anyone mix real and fake plants at home? How do you make the combo look cohesive and natural? Looking for cleaner, better ways to pull this off.
