regarding second majors in ntu
Hello prospective ntu wkwsci student here. I was offered my first choice in WKW but I have yet to accept as I am unable to make a decision between my first choice and my second choice course which is sociology, for which i also recieved an offer from NUS.
In my mind it makes sense to study both comms and socio together as a double major/ primary & second major, and it seems much easier to do this under the jflexibility of NUS CHS, which is making me want to choose NUS for that.
so several qns here:
- how does getting a 2nd major work in NTU? I understand that for students within CoHASS planning to take a 2nd major within CoHASS, application is after y1s2 and u need a minimum 4.0 gpa. are there anymore general requirements and how do i prepare for my application?
- If i already know I want to do a 2nd major in sociology, should i email office of admissions now to request for it before matriculation?
The reasoning for this is so I am able to start taking socio mods from y1s1 rather than wait until y2. But from my understanding I should also be able to use BDE to take socio mods mods as long as they are qualified as BDE mods(which I am unaware if they are), so does it matter?
- How should i plan my workload/curriculum? I understand that i have to complete 61 AUs for my comms degree and 35 for a 2nd degree in socio, which will go on top of the ICC and GER mods and things alrdy part of the comms programme like semester long exchange in y2 and internships & FYP in y3 and y4 respectively. So how many AUs should i be taking every sem, should i be overloading, etc?
