Had a battle with self-funded UMR/UHC insurance to get testing and robotic heart surgery approved AT the hospital system in which I am ALSO an employee. The denials and delays caused significant financial, emotional and mental distress in addition to my already declining physical state. I have run out of FMLA protection and have had no income since my last 60% short term disability pay in mid January. Insurance finally approved the surgery after pressure from myself and outside sources although they publicly deny that was the reason for approval. It was originally scheduled for late December and I was finally able to have it done in mid-March. I have had little luck on my own finding an attorney to speak to, even going through the Ohio Bar Assn.and the Cincy Bar Assn. Any guidance would be welcome, thank you.
