Hello,
I am a California native that moved out to NY for the last year. It’s been nice, but I’ve always been interested in law enforcement and I’ve now decided I want to make the jump. Unfortunately, NYPD seems like the most miserable agency in the entire country. So I’ve decided to apply to a bunch of California departments. I’d love any advice with managing the application process from abroad. It’s hard to gauge which departments I have a chance with (23, BA, no LE exp, LE adjacent experience, clean background) while they all require so much upfront to be considered like the physical/written exams followed by the poly, interview, background. I can’t fly out twice for each department (I applied to many ranging from SoCal to the Bay Area) and even dividing them up geographically would prove to be a challenge as I have a full time job in NY.
Apologies as this is a bit ranty, but any advice would be greatly appreciated, maybe on ways to gauge prospects or something. Thank you!
P.S. - I’ve seen the many posts about how terrible LE is in CA. Thank you for the advice, but any responses about that wouldn’t be very helpful.
