this is probably my hundredth post about the archangels, but I just can’t stop looking at this artwork. there’s something i noticed a long time ago that still sticks with me. look at Michael and Raphael, and then at Gabriel. see it?

Michael and Raphael both have gemstones embedded in their armor, while Gabriel only has hollow spaces where those gemstones could have been. maybe Phanuel has them too, just hidden beneath the cloth, it’s impossible to tell for sure. but why doesn’t Gabriel have any?

maybe it’s because he stayed loyal to his old armor. or maybe those gemstones are something like a rank or honor that has to be earned.
