Stiga Combi 166 hard steering — what should I check or upgrade?
Hi all!
I have a **Stiga Combi 166** ride-on mower with the **66 cm cutting deck** and hydrostatic transmission. The mower size is perfect for my garden, but the **steering is quite heavy**, especially when maneuvering slowly around trees and tight spaces.
Has anyone fixed or improved the steering on a **Stiga Combi 166, Stiga Combi 1066 HQ, Mountfield 66, or similar compact ride-on mower**?
I’m planning to check the front tire pressure, steering rod, ball joints, bushings, front spindles/kingpins, and toe-in alignment. I’m wondering if replacing these parts actually makes a noticeable difference.
Also curious if anyone has tried upgrades like better bushings, grease nipples, stronger tie rods, or even electric power steering assist.
Any advice, photos, part numbers, or experience would be appreciated.
