Should I run the distance prematurely?

My race is Saturday (one week from today), but I’m only slated to do W8D2 tomorrow (28min run) and I’ve never fully run 5km. I won’t finish the program by my race day, I’ll only have gotten to W9D1. Wondering if I should go against the advised 28min and just run an easy 5k distance to see what I’m working with so there’s no surprises on race day?
