When was your myomectomy scheduled after your GnRH shot?

My MIGS surgeon is recommending a 3 month GnRH shot (Zoladex) to shrink my 17x14x13 cm large fibroid. However, he says the surgery will be scheduled 6-9 months AFTER the shot. Everything I’ve read says Zoladex is only effective for the dosage period (3 months in this case). I’m super confused about the surgery timeline. Every piece of material on Zoladex and GnRH agonists says the shrinkage (if at all) is temporary, and they will grow back with a vengeance in 3-4 weeks of the shot wearing off. When I mentioned this to the PA (physician assistant) she said your fibroid will not be at its smallest until 6-9 months AFTER the shot is given. They also confirmed that they are not going to give me another 3 month shot. Just the one. It doesn’t add up with the materials I’ve seen. If you had GnRH before your surgery, can you share your surgery timeline? When did you have your shot? How many months was it for? When did you have your surgery? Was after 3 months or 6 months or longer? I’m scared that I would have just put myself through medical menopause for nothing if they delay the surgery without performing it at the right window. Thanks in advance for helping me out.

More background- I had a recent second trimester loss at 20 weeks - no issues found, completely healthy child - but my fibroid had grown to 13cm at that time, post the loss, residual hormones made it grow to 17 cm now, until I could actually get a specialist appointment- Canadian Healthcare - moves very slowly- the specialist is a MIG surgeon so he was transparent that his bias is towards GnRH. I’m okay with the procedure, but I don’t want to wait for the surgery any longer than I need to. I’m also 36 years old, and really want to be a mother. The grief from the loss and the lack of answers and evidence is driving me crazy. Looking for some answers from this amazing community where I’ve found many answers to my condition.

I got my period migraines to a tolerable level

I (36F) used to have severe and debilitating migraines with light and smell sensitivity, nausea, and no painkillers worked. Used to lose 4-5 days every month. I cut back on white carbs, sugar and dairy and added leafy greens and inflammation reducing food. Took magnesium, iron and vitamin D supplements. Now, my migraines have reduced in their severity to a large extent, I only suffer headaches and they are tolerable. I also don’t lose days like I did before, just a few hours. What really made the needle move for me were the magnesium supplements. Avoiding white flour, especially gluten rich flour, like bread, processed food, potato chips, sugars, caffeine made things better. I also took care to hydrate myself - coconut water, emergen-C, and just plain tap water. More liquids just made things easier for those 1-2 days. Migraines suck. When I used to get them I used to feel horrible. I had accepted this is how my life would be when my family doctor dismissed it as normal and ask me to just take extra strength Tylenol. But no painkillers worked for me. something kept nagging at me find answers. Reddit led me to magnesium supplements. I stumbled upon the rest through trial and error. It’s not fun having to lose a few days every month to being a incapacitated due to migraines. I hope this helps people searching for ways to improve their quality of life!
