Seal ing bathroom walls

We recently bought a wooden house and are in the process of renovating the bathroom. The walls here are drywall with tiles up to the middle, the upper half is just painted orange. The problem is that at the top there is a gap between the drywall and the wooden board (see pictures). The gap is not just vertical, there is also some horizontal space. They used to have very cheap molding applied with adhesive, but it clearly didn't do a good job to keep the steam and moisture out. The gaps leave the mineral wool used for insulation behind the wall directly exposed.

What can I do to seal these parts without replacing the walls? Ceiling mold? Wooden bar?
