My son is going to be 12 months old next week and has been struggling with his second nap for the past 2.5 weeks. He is getting over a cold so we’ve been relying on contact naps. When we put him down for his second nap he is usually okay for about 5-10 minutes but then he starts crying. Today we gave it 30 minutes before we tried a contact nap. Our wake windows are 3/3.5/3.5. His first nap is going well. He typically wakes at 7am and bedtime is 8pm. We don’t want his bedtime to be pushed any further. For this reason, sometimes we try capping the first nap. Is he needing more wake time? Does this mean he’s ready for 1 nap?
