Welcome to r/Hometessori.

This space is for parents and educators who want to practice authentic Montessori at home, especially in the early years. If you’re new, you’re in the right place. If you’ve been doing this for a while, I’m glad you’re here too. My hope is that this community feels calm, practical, and genuinely supportive.

Community Vibe
A quick note about the tone we’re building: Montessori is not a set of hacks or a checklist to “get kids to do work.” It’s a way of seeing the child, preparing ourselves, and preparing an environment that protects independence, concentration, and dignity. That doesn’t mean it has to feel complicated or perfect. It does mean we’ll aim for what’s true to the philosophy, and we’ll help each other apply it with real-life constraints like limited time, budget, space, and energy.

What to Post
Let's have a lot of conversation here around the prepared adult, the prepared environment, presentations, and what to do when things feel messy. Questions are welcome. Honest struggles are welcome. Wins are welcome. What we won’t do here is shame families, label children, or argue for the sake of arguing. If you disagree, explain with respect and with the child’s development in mind.

Transparency: I’m u/Hometessori, the founder behind r/Hometessori, and I’ll be participating as a Montessori guide and fellow parent. This is not a feed of promotions. When I share a resource, it’ll be because it truly fits the question being asked, and I’ll be clear about my connection to it.

How to Get Started

  1. If you’d like to introduce yourself, tell us in the comments a little about:
    • your child’s age,
    • What you’re working on at home right now,
    • What kind of support would be most helpful, or
    • One thing you’re observing lately: something your child is drawn to, something that’s been hard, or something that surprised you.
  2. If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
  3. Interested in helping out? We welcome new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply.

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. I’m really glad you’re here. Together, let’s make r/Hometessori Montessori-aligned, kind, and real.
