Please Save Family Vacation

This is, hilariously, my first ever Reddit post, so please forgive me if the formatting is whack.

I am with my fiances family at a lake house. Family is from all over, not all in the same place very often, young grandkids, all the fun. But, with 11 people and 4 dogs in one house, stress is sky high.

Well, my fiance was changing the toilet paper roll as the toilet was flushing. Sure enough, the spring on the metal piece....sprung...and half of the metal cylinder went into the toilet and flushed down.

Here's the predicament. Only my fiance and I know right this moment, and we are the only ones who would use this toilet. If we can troubleshoot this without calling a plumber, that would help alleviate the crazy household stress BIG TIME. However, if this is a "definitely call a plumber" situation, then fair game, thats what we'll do.

Water is shut off, I tried to extract the metal piece with no luck, toilet flushed fine twice, house has a sump pump. I think thats all the relevant details.

What steps do I need to take to get to option A of "its fine, it made it through without clogging" or option B of "call a plumber"
