Hi everyone. I was directed here as I am not a professional installer.
I have a 2012 Trane XL20i heat pump, model 4TWZ0048B1000AA with ComfortLink II. My condenser fan motor (D156799P01) has bad bearings and I am replacing it. Every supply house is telling me the correct replacement is MOT18698 but I would like confirmation from someone with actual experience that this is correct before I proceed, as the motor did not run when I plugged it in when I was told it was plug and play and backward compatible.
The new MOT18698 has 6 wires but my original harness only has 5. The 6th wire is white and the motor label says it is 24V input. The original motor only had 5 wires with one blank position in the connector — the white wire on the MOT18698 sits in that previously empty position. My existing 5-wire harness has no wire to mate to the white wire.
I need to know two things:
1. Is MOT18698 the correct replacement for D156799P01 on a ComfortLink II system?
2. Where does the white 24V input wire on the MOT18698 connect in a ComfortLink II system — and is that why the motor didn't run when I plugged it straight in?
