Laptop recommendations for a liberal arts major.
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: ~$1,500-2,000 max but willing to pay more if it is worth it.
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Depends
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? 1. build quality 2. battery life 3. performance 4. form factor
- How important is weight and thinness to you? I need it to be portable and preferably fairly thin, but it doesn't matter too much. I don't want to sacrifice battery or performance for it.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Just Microsoft products and a few light games I play occasionally, Bloons TD Battles 2 and Cosmoteer mostly.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Don't really need high performance, just enough to be fun.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A comfortable keyboard and decent trackpad are musts because I am mostly using it for classwork. Durable build quality would also be nice because I can sometimes be clumsy lol. Touch screen and flipping are also nice.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I do not want a MacBook. I am willing to pay for a long-lasting product. I have had my current laptop for only 2 years, and it has been slow and inefficient since I got it.
