Pool season is starting — what's a good value VS pump for a family pool?
First time doing pool maintenance ourselves this year. Bought the house last fall and the previous owner's pool company was charging $180/mo just for "weekly visits", felt nuts.
Anyway. Pool is 14k gal inground, in Texas (DFW area). Current pump is single speed, like 1.5HP, makes a ton of noise, runs maybe 8 hours a day per the timer.
Looking to switch to variable speed since I keep reading on here that the energy savings basically pay for itself in 2-3 seasons.
What I'm looking for:
- decent flow for a 14k gal pool
- not crazy loud (kids' bedrooms face the equipment pad)
- reasonable price, ideally under a grand
I see the big names (pentair, hayward, jandy) in the $1100-1500 range. Then there's a bunch of cheaper ones on amazon I've never heard of.
Open to either honestly. Just want something that's gonna last more than 2 seasons and not embarrass me when the pool guy comes for the seasonal inspection lol.
What would you guys go with?
