▲ 35 r/Wegovy

I've shared already my progress in my local Wegovy Australia group a few days ago. I decided to do it here as well, this group is bigger and maybe my experience will encourage others not to give up. I don't consider myself as a super responder, I'd rather call it as slow and steady wins the race 💪

On 29 Apr.2026 it was exactly 72 weeks since I started Wegovy. So far I lost 29kg or 29.7% and went down from 97.5kg to 68.5kg. My BMI reduced from 35.4 - obese class II, to 24.9 - normal weight. On average it was around 400g weight loss per week. You can see my progress on the photos attached to the post.

My current dose is 1mg, at the moment it's my highest. In total I used only 9 Wegovy pens instead of 18. Click counting saved me a lot of money: I spent A$1000 for the first 4 pens (0.25mg, 2 x 0.5mg and 1mg, A$250 each) + A$1850 for 5 other pens with higher doses (3 x 1.7mg and 2 x 2.4mg, A$370 each), so it's A$2850 in total or A$38 for one dose.

According to the latest Wegovy studies, average weight loss is around 17.5% in 72 weeks being on 2.4mg dose. For me Wegovy had worked much better: I lost almost 30% in the same time frame staying on 1mg. I should admit, starting Wegovy I didn't have type 2 diabetes, PCOS or high cholesterol, just a constant food noise. Maybe that helped me too:

"Around 33% of the participants on the higher 7.2mg dose experienced very high levels of weight loss – losing 25% or more of their total body weight. This is roughly double the proportion seen in the standard 2.4mg dose group, where just under 17% achieved this degree of weight loss."

(I can't share the link, my first post was removed by Reddit's filters, so I attached the screenshot, you can google it if interested)

My goal weight is 60kg and BMI 22 - in the middle of the normal weight range, so I'm still going. After 1st year the weight loss slowed down, but I don't mind because I don't want to lose fast, I want it gone forever. Besides, losing slowly I haven't experienced any extreme hair loss or sagging skin. Hope to get to my GW by the end of this year and the 2nd anniversary 🤞
