Why is SEO not enough anymore? AI search is changing everything!
I’ve been noticing a shift lately in how people search for things online.
A few years ago everything was about ranking on Google. Now a lot of people are asking ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity directly for recommendations instead of clicking through search results.
I tested a few searches recently like:
- Best CRM tools
- Ecommerce email platforms
- Property management software
And honestly, a lot of brands with strong Google rankings barely showed up in AI answers at all.
That made me think SEO alone might not be enough anymore.
AI tools seem to pull information from everywhere:
Reddit discussions, blogs, Quora, comparison sites, reviews, and community conversations. So now it feels more like AI visibility matters too, not just search rankings.
One tool I came across during this was GEOkey. It’s interesting because instead of only tracking rankings, it focuses on whether AI tools actually mention your brand and how they describe it.
Feels like we’re entering a weird stage where brands may start asking:
Does ChatGPT even know we exist?
Curious if others here think this is the next evolution of SEO or just another temporary trend?
