Why are so many people buying 'Folds' with the folded ears? Not judging I have 2 but I was told by a long time owner of a fold to avoid the folded ears due to issues with bones etc

So i got scottish straights

I also seen in scotland it is illegal to breed fold's with folded ears?

Is it an old wifes tale ?

Or is a cat with folded ears genuinely bad for it?

Not trying to judge, looking for the common opinion / answer

Ps i really think the folded ears are the cutest thing ever so its not like i have an issue with it
