I’m thinking about hiking the AT through SNP starting the Friday before labor day (9/4/26) from Rockfish Gap. This means I’ll be staying at Calf Mountain Shelter, Blackrock Hut and Pinefield Hut Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Labor Day) night respectively. I’ll stay in my tent, but how much should I worry about crowds and/or parties at the shelters on that holiday weekend? Would I be better off starting Sunday or even Monday night? Many thanks.
