How can you understand Minecraft without looking things up ?

I've been wondering this because there's no way people just understand by themselves the whole enchantment system among other things. Yesterday I got flamed because I did not know that Looting didn't go on pickaxes (I did look up the way you're supposed to use books on anvils but given that my looting II book wouldn't go on my pickaxe I thought there was an issue : how are you supposed to guess that ??).

I imagine at the start of minecraft when it became more and more complex it must have been a lot of ''engage with the community and work together to find out", and still today (hence this reddit page). But imo it kind of feels like cheating and takes away a part of the charm of the game, witch is why I ask a lot of dumb questions on this page (after looking it up dw). But like for example let's say you want to do the ''breed every animal'' achievement, do you just have to guess that armadillos eat fermented spider eyes ? Or that polar bears can't breed/eat ? Let alone the whole F3 thing, like that's not "part" of the game and breaks the immersion I feel like.
Let me know if I'm crazy or if you agree.
I'm not english, I hope you could understand me well !
