Recovery
My partner (50M) had a massive hemorrhagic stroke a year ago. He had a craniotomy and later a cranioplasty, with right-side paralysis and aphasia.
Today, 1 year later, he has recovered a lot compared to where he was in the beginning. He can walk with a cane and can explain his needs most of the time, but he still has no functional use of his hand/arm.
I would really like to hear from people who are further along in recovery:
Did things continue to improve during years 2, 3, or 4?
Was there still a big difference after the first year?
He still cannot write or type, and his walking is very, very slow. At what stage did your walking speed improve? And how much improvement is realistically possible over time?
Also… for those who had severe arm/hand paralysis:
If the arm hasn’t “woken up” by the 1-year mark, is there still hope?
Please share where you were at 1 year post-stroke and what changed afterward.
I really need some hope right now
