I have my old landlord asking for rent and new landlord evicting me for none payment
Location: Alabama Here is my cluster bomb. My landlord sold the house I’m currently living in and never told me about it. So when the month of May rent came around I had something’s come up to where I did not have it and I explained everything to my old landlord. Then I get a text from a guy saying he is the new landlord and he would start collecting rent starting in June. Just two days later the new guy started hounding me asking me when was I going to pay the old landlord and how was I going to pay him constantly on me about paying the old landlord. Eventually I tell him everything that is going on and the reason why I’m late this month. I have lived here in this house for 21 yrs and never missed rent or been late on rent never. Now it’s the 11 and the new landlord has gave me 7 days to pay or face eviction for the rent I owe the old landlord. I have every text even the one with him saying hell collect rent starting in June. Now he is saying he purchased the house in April etc etc. that may be so I have no clue but he told me that he would start collecting rent in June. And the old landlord was asking me about the rent when would I have the rent up until I explained everything to him and that is when everything has went downhill. I’ve ask the new landlord if he’d work with me while I go to appointments trying to get help on paying my rent and he will not. Yes I do owe for this month rent and I am struggling to come up with it being I draw 1198 a month from disability. I don’t understand how he can evict me when he said he won’t start accepting rent June and my old kand lord has been asking me about the rent up until May 4th. There’s soo many stories being told. I feel like he’s singling me out like it’s revenge for the rent I owe the old landlord. I thought renters had rights and hes being a jerk saying he don’t remember saying that but I have everything in text messages. There should be something I can do because I feel like hes doing this because he can and for the old landlord but I’m gonna pay him when I have it. Life happens I can’t help that and I’ve been upfront and honest about everything. This cant be legal they have been so confusing and the new landlord talk to me like I’m stupid. What can I do where do I start at?
