Talon Pro vs OG Talon (1718mm)?

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago I printed the Flightory Stork and have flown it exactly once. The whole experience was pretty underwhelming, but that’s not really the topic here.

I’m looking for a large UAV, at least 1.3 m wingspan, that can handle long, autonomous flights of 1 hour or more. I already have self‑built 6S Li‑Ion packs between 10–20 Ah that I want to use. As a flight controller I plan to start with a Speedybee F405 Wing running ArduPlane. Control link is 868 MHz ELRS.

Earlier this week I picked up a Talon Pro 1350 mm on AliExpress for 80 €. I also have a 60 A ESC, a 3115 900 KV motor with a 10×4.7 folding prop, and servos lying around. The motor is of course not maximally efficient, but it should be good enough for the Talon Pro to begin with. On Banggood I’ve now seen the “original” Talon with a 1718 mm wingspan in the flash sale. Considering the size of my battery packs, that might be the more sensible option, but the Talon Pro already meets my planned requirements while being smaller and easier to handle. On top of that, my current setup with motor and prop would probably be completely unsuitable for the larger Talon.

So my question is whether anyone has a short comparison report for me, maybe also including a model in a similar price range that I haven’t considered yet. Regardless of that, I’d like to know if my assumption is correct that the 1718 mm Talon flies noticeably more smoothly than the smaller Pro.

Best regards
