Mail-order pharmacy luck?
The skinny: I moved to a new state for one year, found an amazing pain management (PM) group there, along w/ an incredible pharmacist. When I moved back to the state I left, the way PM patients are treated in this state is abysmal. I know because I was treated by a PM group for 6y prior to leaving. Every month was a rinse-repeat cycle of the very group that was supposed to be helping me treating my like an addict. Despite following all the rules, being compliant, never failing urine testing and always bringing meds in for pill count (which I’d have overages, never be under).
After finding such a validating and confirming group who treats me like the medical patient I am (& not like a villain); I wasn’t willing to let my PM go, and they are more than happy to keep me on as a patient. Yet my pharmacist there is no longer comfortable w/ filling my meds (who my neighbor turned friend has been more than happy to pick up & UPS overnight to me).
I need to switch to mail-order - the choices I’ve been given through PM group are:
Optum Rx
CVS Caremark
Amazon Rx
Walgreens
CVS & Walgreens has been lousy for in-house service, and being that this script is generated from another state - I’m concerned they may have a fit with that. However I could very well be wrong. I had my pain meds filled by both in the years in past, and is why I switched to Publix - as management & efficiency are hallmarks of Publix pharmacies. Literally the smoothest and most organized/staffed pharmacy I’ve ever dealt with.
Might any of you have any GOOD experience with any of the above for opioids? [Currently prescribed Hydromorphone (4-6mg up to 3x/day) for breakthrough pain]
Thanks for taking the time to read this & for any value you might add to this discussion. Hope today is finding you on the better side of right :)
