27M in India making ~1Cr pre-tax, is hiring a financial advisor actually worth it?
27M software engineer in India making \~1Cr base pre-tax, should I hire a financial advisor or just keep managing finances myself?
Current setup:
* SIPs in mutual funds
* Direct stocks
* Some real estate exposure
No debt currently.
I’m not looking for someone to tell me “buy this stock.”
More interested in:
* portfolio allocation
* long-term wealth strategy
* tax planning
* avoiding stupid mistakes
* maybe retirement/FIRE planning eventually
I keep seeing mixed opinions:
* “You don’t need an advisor, just buy index funds.”
* “At this income level, tax planning alone is worth it.”
* “Most advisors in India are glorified insurance salesmen.”
Would love advice from people in similar income brackets:
* Did hiring a fee-only advisor actually help?
* Was it worth the cost?
* What changed after hiring one?
* Any red flags I should watch for in India?
Also curious what made you decide to continue DIY vs hiring a professional.
