Child arrangements with abusive Ex
I split up from my ex partner (not married) over a year ago due to domestic abuse. I stayed in the property with our two children (rented). He then moved on to the same street and my children have a casual visiting arrangement where they go and see him when they want to. He doesn’t do any school drop offs or pick ups and he doesn’t feed them the come home for meals. He doesn’t pay maintenance and I don’t want to pursue this. He hasn’t made a bedroom for them so they don’t sleep there. I am now moving house due to ongoing emotional and financial abuse from him and would like a more formal arrangement that says the children live with me with regular contact with him. I don’t know how to start this, if i send him what i propose and he agrees to it then can we avoid court? I do not want either child to live with him until they are old enough he isn’t able to provide basic care (he never has food for them as he has no money) he won’t take them to their after school clubs so in my arrangements I have factored this in and come up with something that i think is best for them but if he doesn’t agree does it then go to court or given his history is it better to go to court anyway?
