Hi everyone,
I’m in a bit of a unique spot and could use some perspective from those who have navigated the MS path with significant work experience or unused H1B visas.
Profile**:**
- Experience: 6 years as a Full-Stack Developer from Service based firms
- Education: Admit for MS CS at University at ASU for Fall 2026.
- Visa Situation: I have an approved and stamped H1B (valid through 2027), but I was unable to travel to the US with it due to personal reason.
I’m excited about the MS CS at ASU + AI ML specialization, but given the current job market and my 6 years of experience, I’m questioning if the "student route" is the most efficient way back. I’m also aware that because I was already counted in the H1B cap, I might be cap-exempt in the future**.**
- MS at ASU for Seniors**:** For those with 6-8 years of experience, did the MS at ASU actually help you land Senior/Staff roles, or did you feel "overqualified" for the standard entry-level grad pipelines?
- Cap-Exemption**:** If I go for the MS on an F1, can I later "reclaim" my remaining H1B years?
- Other Options: is it worth attending or try for other countries while working from India?
Would love to hear from anyone who has skipped the F1 and used an unused H1B to move, or those who went to ASU with 5+ years of experience.
