Hi everyone,
I'm 19 and planning to pursue a BS in Economics and Statistics. I'm based in Kolkata and can't really afford to relocate to Bangalore for colleges like Christ University. Wanted to ask — does it actually matter for MSc admissions abroad?
A few things I'm confused about:
**Does college tier actually matter for European MSc admissions?** I've heard European schools (UK, Netherlands, Germany) care more about grades, SOP, and projects than the college name. Is that true in practice?
**Can a strong academic record + independent projects compensate for being at a tier-2 Indian college?**
**For people who went to colleges like Christ Bangalore — did the workload actually allow you to prep for GMAT/GRE or build specialized skills (coding, ML, econometrics)?** I've heard the internal pressure leaves little room for self-driven work.
Is staying in Kolkata and building a strong profile on my own a viable path, or is the college brand gap too hard to overcome?
Honest takes appreciated.
