"Open Box - Excellent - No missing accessories" With over 5,000 hours of use.
I am looking for info and experience users context and thoughts so I can consider all of the info and decide what steps I should take next.
So I purchased an open Box Asus ROG Swift PG32UCDP from Best Buy for $770. It was marked Open Box "Excellent" "No Missing accessories" "Geek Squad Verified"
I buy open box from BB all the time and even stuff marked as "Fair" is usually in perfect condition. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with BB for open box purchases for 6+ years...
So I get everything out and noticed ALL accessories were missing except the power brick. I reached out and they gave me a $75 refund, bringing the price down to $700.
Aside from some fingerprints the panel looked in perfect condition. There are some scuffs, like paint rubbed off when someone bumped a wall, on the back of the stand. And then I was going through the settings and noticed this had 5,577 hours of use time.....
Some quick math shows that is about a year of being on 16 hours a day. (Assuming this was a display model.) Or much longer use if someone, some how, returned this after owning it for a couple of years. (Not unheard of with Protection plan returns.)
No obvious burn in and what few tests I have done the panel looks fine overall. But not as good as my laptops OLED. But still good.
Ok so. Thoughts. Is this worth $700 considering?
And how miffed should I be at the gross mis-representation of the product by Best Buy?
(Keep in mind they have a 15-30 day return policy. So anyone buying open box would assume not more than a couple of weeks to a months worth of use.)
I have no emotions or reaction yet. Just sort of trying to consider all of the facts for now.
