Expansion tank drips, then doesn't
I noticed evidence of water dripping onto our basement floor from under the expansion tank and found that there was a line of wetness from the top down the side to the point where the drips were forming. After 24 hours, still evidence of an extremely slow drip (was collecting in a dish under the drip point, so I called a plumber (Wednesday). They are coming on Monday first thing. But now the drip seems to have stopped and the tank feels dry on the top, bottom, and side, even after I know the hot water heater has cycled a couple of times. I think I should still have the plumber come, but I don't want it to be like taking a car in for a noise - if the noise isn't happening, they can't fix it. I have attached a picture of the system. I would appreciate thoughts and recommendations. Please don't suggest trying to fix it myself because that is way out of my league and inclination. Thanks in advance for your help.
