Context ; During November, a large number of students at VIT Bhopal University reportedly suffered from Hepatitis A and jaundice, because of poor water hygiene and substandard food quality on campus. Despite growing concerns and multiple students falling seriously ill, the administration initially denied the situation. Some students lost their lives (officially 2)
In response, students organized peaceful protests demanding accountability, better living conditions, and immediate action from the administration. However, instead of addressing these concerns transparently, the administration attempted to suppress the protests by beating students ,with reports of students being manhandled and threatened to discourage further demonstrations.
These actions only escalated tensions on campus. What began as a peaceful movement for student safety and basic rights eventually turned more aggressive as frustration and distrust toward the administration grew. The incident caused significant damage to the university’s reputation and sparked widespread criticism over the handling of student welfare and campus safety. Leading to government actions .
