Would you consider a piece of wood like this ok for scapping? It's not shedding fibers, it's completely dry and appears to be a piece of oak. It's solid, not spongy at all.

It seems like it was in the water for a long time, the surface is rough to the touch but doesn't cut or give me splinters.

It's a nice piece of wood, just don't know if this is the look I'm going for or if it will degrade drastically over time.
