Just launched on PH today — solo dev, privacy messenger that turns texts into runes. Yes upvotes are nice, but I really want the honest critiques 🔮

Hey r/ProductHunters 👋

Launched Cipheus on PH a few hours ago. Solo indie dev, first

real launch, equal parts excited and terrified.

I'll be honest about the ask up front: yes, upvotes help, and if

the idea resonates I won't pretend I don't want them. But what

I actually need right now is the stuff PH comments rarely give

me — the "here's why this won't work" takes. PH is too polite.

Reddit is not. That's why I'm here.

What I built:

Cipheus is an iOS messenger that visually transforms your

messages into cipher symbols — Nordic Runes, Celestial,

Geometric, etc. Pick a Language Pack per conversation, your

texts render as that script on screen.

The thesis:

E2EE protects messages in transit, not from the person next to

you on the train. Cipheus stacks two layers — encryption under,

visual obfuscation on top. Network AND shoulder both locked out.

Three things I'm genuinely unsure about and would love brutal

takes on:

  1. Is shoulder-surfing a real problem people care about, or am

    I solving something nobody has?

  2. Custom symbol packs vs. one strong default — does variety

matter or is it feature bloat dressed up as personalization?

  3. Target demo is 14-28. Older folks here: does this read as

"fun, kind of cool" or "I have no idea what I'm looking at"?

PH page (screenshots are clearer than my description):

Stack for the curious: SwiftUI, Supabase, vodozemac planned

for E2EE post-MVP. Happy to go deep on any of it in comments.

Roast me, ask me anything, or tell me my whole premise is

wrong. All three are useful.
