Book that was around in the early 2000s about a girl who visits another world in her dreams
This has been bugging me for years. When I was in middle school in Texas in the early 2000s, I read a book from the school library about a girl who visited another world in her dreams. The details I can remember are:
- At first she didn’t realise she was doing it, but she would wake up with soil on her feet and scratches on her arms
- The other world was very surreal and dream-like although it was real. At some point she was in a long hall in the sky that had a black and white checkered floor and many statues on each side.
- There was a character called Griffin with whom I think she became friends
- I think the main character had a sister but I can’t really remember if I’m confusing this with another book
- I generally remember the tone of the book feeling quite eerie and surreal
Unfortunately that’s all I can remember, but I remember really liking the book and have been trying to find it for years. If you have any idea, shout! I don’t know when it was written but was definitely around in the early 2000s
