help interpreting my results!
hi guys, long time lurker (F22) since i got the inkling that i might have pcos!
this year i’ve started to get all the tests done to find out what’s been going on. January of this year, my hair started falling out more than usual, but only when i washed it. i would detangle it and by the end of the wash i would have a big clump of hair on the wall/in my hand. it doesn’t fall out so much when i brush, so i was just extremely confused. my hair is curly, so i thought it could be normal fall out but it had never been so much before.
my symptoms are hair loss and hirsutism, though my chin hairs do not look like terminal hairs and just kinda look like an increase in peach fuzz if im being honest. so hair loss is my main symptom. i have regular periods and ovulation. i am also on spironolactone for hair shed!
i got some blood tests (3rd day of cycle) and my testosterone came back very very high, which i sort of just knew was going to be the case. i don’t know how to interpret everything else, and my gynecologist (she’s an absolute angel btw) wasn’t very worried? she said my other hormones seemed normal and the only worrisome thing is my testosterone and so she scheduled me for an ultrasound. that, according to her, also came back relatively normal except one ovary with a bigger volume than the other. they said they didn’t find anything alarming with cysts or follicles either. i’ll add the results at the end.
i am fairly obese, have been my entire life, and i brought it up to my PCP that maybe i am insulin resistant but he said he was not worried because my A1c is normal and did not order a fasting insulin like i asked. he told me to just focus on losing weight (which i have, but i am finding it so frustrating because the weight is just not moving at all despite my efforts)
i guess i was just hoping you guys could help me interpret the results in relation to one another? like the optimal ratios for hormones and all. i’ve been incredibly stressed about this entire thing which i think is also contributing more to my hair loss lol.
these are my results:
