I live in rural WA and my driveway is attached to a 2-lane highway. I'm used to the suburbs/city where exiting just means taking an exit ramp.

What I've been doing is to turn on my blinker 5-10 seconds before the driveway, and in that time I gradually slow from 60 to like 15, and make the turn. That feels safe and right to me, but often if there's a car behind me they'll get up close and slam on their brakes like they're gonna rear end me, and a couple of times the person behind me used the shoulder/ditch to go around me rather than slow down.

I'm comfortable with the idea that this is just a new kind of asshole driver for me to deal with, but it's often enough that I want to make sure I'm not accidentally being dangerous. Any advice appreciated
