Ben Gardners boat
During my annual rewatch of Jaws it occurred to me that Ben Gardner is meant to be a well known fisherman in Amity, yet he’s got a tiny little boat.
Surely a professional fisherman would need something more capable?!
I’ve always looked at Gardner as a rival to quint, so much so that there’s even fan theory that Quint killed Gardner to stop him from getting the shark first. However this theory falls down as soon as you look at the boat he was paddling round in. Quint wouldn’t give him a second thought.
However, I do find the wreck of the boat quite suspicious. First, if Bruce really attacked a boat of this size there would be more damage (based on how he attached the orca). And second, the tooth is stuck in the hull the wrong way round! I only noticed this for the first time just now. If a shark lost a tooth, the sharp point wouldn’t be sticking up like Hooper finds it - the point would be buried in the wood.
