Copilot keeps gaslighting me and making up messages?
I have a Surface x Copilot laptop, and lately I’ve been using the voice chat feature to transcribe and polish messages for my job. Over the past few days, I’ve been running into a strange issue. I’ll be speaking to Copilot with my headphones on and no background noise, and while it’s responding, it suddenly interrupts itself and doesn’t complete the task I gave it.
When I check the chat logs afterward, I see messages I never sent, completely unrelated to what I said. I'll also sometimes hear a humming song in the background. I assumed it was just a glitch or maybe the microphone mishearing something.
But today something even stranger happened. Copilot interrupted itself again even though I wasn’t speaking, and when I checked the chat, a link had been sent to a website I’ve never used. Since I only use voice chat, it wouldn’t be possible for me to accidentally say an entire website address, especially one I have literally never visited! When I asked where it came from, Copilot insisted that I sent it. When I said I didn’t, it suggested my line might have been intercepted.
At this point, I’m not sure what’s going on. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a way to stop it? I thought using voice chat would streamline my work, but instead I’m spending more time trying to get it to complete simple tasks. It was annoying at first, but now it’s genuinely creeping me out.
