Pivot from City Planning
Hi all, I’m 30 with a Masters in City Planning with 5 years experience. I’ve worked in local government specifically land use permitting & recently Infrastructure projects (last jobs been tough becuse I feel limited in this role).
I feel like alot of what I do overlaps with PM. Managing projects, delegating tasks, meeting deadlines, collaborating with cross functional teams, etc. I thoroughly enjoy the process of completing projects but am not 100% sold on local government for the rest of my life. I’m currently job hunting and trying to find my fit in the private sector. I want variety with projects and I enjoy engaging with clients. I’ve updated my resume to sound like a PM who’s worked in City Planning. I plan to get my CAPM & PMP in the next year.
Is this pivot possible? Has anyone ever pivoted from Planning?
