Is there any way to take advantage of the “1-turn” prone condition?
Knocking people over is obviously fun and I was theorycrafting a berserker barb that could use an ettercap or phase spider corpse as an improvised weapon, which should guarantee prone on a hit to any humanoid or smaller enemies, and would come online as soon as I get to both Ethel’s strength potions and the blighted village well (love a build that gets going early).
I was doing some reading about prone, and it looks like throw, enraged throw, and improvised weapon attack all just apply the one turn prone, which obviously goes away the second the enemy starts their turn.
Is there any way to weaponize this further? Short of just attacking prone enemies with advantage before they begin their turn? That by itself would be useful, but would definitely require some initiative luck and turn order would often be out of my control.
The wiki also says that the one turn prone condition can’t be extended before it ticks off in certain applications, which is probably intended to prevent the exact kind of abuse I’m trying to implement (lol).
What other fun things has anyone done with the prone effect? Maiming tiger barbs and permaprone 4e monks are well documented, but what else? Once the enemies are down, are there any other fun str/dex save actions that I could work in against prone enemies, besides just crit fishing?
I’m trying to either put together a prone party or a spider themed party with this idiot barb at the lead, depending on which conditions I can take better advantage of between prone and webbed/poisoned.
