Can’t close mouth with anterior open bite. Help???
This is my “closed” mouth. LOL. When I hold my lips shut, I look like a Neanderthal. Then my lip seal naturally pops open again.
My bite changed in my teens and early 20s dealing with bruxism and wearing cheap, ill-fitting night guards. I developed an anterior open bite; only my back molars touch and my mouth is naturally open at rest, so you always see my incisors. It wasn’t ugly by any means, it was cute, nobody noticed, but I felt physical discomfort. My chin muscle strains to seal my lips and you can’t see my cleft chin through all the dimpling. And these were all problems I’ve had BEFORE Invisalign. Now that I started 3 days ago, I have the same problems but amplified.
I thought my mouth was open before. Now it’s really OPEN wearing these. On day 2 I was spiraling and regretting it all, especially the $5000 I’m investing. Like I feel really humbled about the discomfort I felt before. My lips are so dry. And I’m mewing, suctioning my tongue to the roof of my mouth so I don’t mouth breathe despite having my mouth opened.
Asking anyone else who had a similar bite to me, does it get better?!!!!
