First solo trip—Glacier National Park

Decided to dive in head first & do my first solo trip at Glacier National Park!! I have never felt safer at a campsite. Rangers were amazing, other campers were super friendly, and the views were gorgeous. 10/10 would recommend (with planning and bear spray 🐻)

Safety Tips for Solo Trip

I’m heading to Glacier in the next few weeks for a few days of solo camping and hiking, and I’m getting a bit worried about bear safety with all the recent encounters.

I’ll be staying in a camp ground, will have bear spray, and plan to do a few of the most popular hikes on the west side of the park during my stay. I’ve heard the advice to shout “hey bear!” every few minutes on the trail, and obviously know to follow rules about no food and toiletries in my tent, campsite, etc.

Does this feel like a (reasonably) safe plan? Any other tips on how to stay safe and enjoy the amazing park?
