Mother goat depressed and kidnapping after losing her baby in birth
I’m new to goats- I’m in my second year and still learning.
I have several does kidding, I had two kid this morning. One had 2 babies successfully, while the other lost her 1.
The one who lost her baby is now trying to essentially steal kids from the mom who successfully had hers, which is causing the other mother to be stressed.
I’m wondering if it would be a terrible idea to find a bottle baby to try and put with the bereaved mother, as I’m willing to bottle feed if she didn’t take to it- my understanding is that this isn’t always the most successful route, but her attempts at kidnapping are what made me think of this in the first place- or would it be better to just separate the bereaved mother entirely and let her ride it out.
IF finding a bottle baby would be the best option, how old is too old of a baby to put with her?
