I recently booked a property in Edinburgh Scotland via VRBO for 6 nights this coming summer. The payment was split (£2,338.88 paid on March 12, 2026 and £7,016.62 due on July 14). The stated cancellation policy was "75% refund for cancellations requested by July 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM (property's local time)." The start date was August 25, 2026. I cancelled on June 1, 2026, but VRBO is now insisting that the refund only applies to the full amount (which isn't even due until July 15, 2026). So they are refusing to refund any of the £2,338.88 already paid. How can a "refund" apply to an amount that hasn't even been paid yet? This is clearly illogical and seems to be a proactive attempt at misleading people.
